La Printaniere Montessori Elementary School

The Elementary School provides a prepared environment which meets the changing needs of the 6 to 12 year old child. This expanded environment is rich in activities designed to foster the child's intellectual development.

Under the close observation and guidance of a trained Montessori Elementary teacher, the child builds on basic math and language skills through a series of sequentially structured exercises using multi-sensory materials. This allows the child to develop concepts frequently thought to be beyond the reach of children his age. The Montessori Elementary materials make this possible for they illustrate these concepts in concrete form thereby enabling the child to make intellectual abstraction, the basis for independent functioning.

The Elementary age child is encouraged at all times to take responsibility for his actions. He develops a strong sense of independence, personal awareness and respect for himself and his society.
